Alize Ferrari
Affiliate Associate ProfessorAlize J. Ferrari, PhD, is a research associate for the Psychiatric Epidemiology and Burden of Disease Research (PEABOD) Group based at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research, Queensland, Australia. She is an Affiliate Associate Professor at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington and also holds an affiliate position with the School of Public Health at the University of Queensland.
Her role within PEABOD is to oversee the work undertaken by the group investigating the global epidemiology of mental and substance use disorders and the ecological risk factors and outcomes of mental and substance use disorders and to provide technical expertise to national and international mental health epidemiological surveys and burden of disease studies. Her role as an IHME affiliate involves working on the Global Burden of Disease study, where she is responsible for the systematic review, data extraction, and epidemiological modeling of major depressive disorder, dysthymia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and cannabis dependence. Dr. Ferrari completed her PhD at the School of Public Health, University of Queensland, where she focused on formulating an epidemiological profile for major depressive disorder, investigating the global distribution, burden, risk factors, and outcomes of this disorder.
